November 21 – January 22

During the month of November 2021, EnergyLab Technology Center was a guest of CEIP Pintor Laxeiro of Vigo (Spain), for the presentation and dissemination within schools of the NEPTUNUS project. Thus, the 3rd and 4th grade students were able to learn about the objectives of Neptunus and the challenges facing the fisheries sector. Likewise, during January of 2022, EnergyLab Technology Center was guest of Centro Plurilingüe Sagrado Corazón de Placeres of Marin (Spain) for the presentation and dissemination within schools of the NEPTUNUS project. Thus, junior high students were able to learn about the objectives of Neptunus and the challenges.

Reaching circa 110 students (8 to 10 years old) and 100 junior high students, the meetings followed a presentation about “Providing opportunities for the transition to the Circular Economy of the fisheries sector in the Atlantic Area”.

The 5 meetings of one hour each were developed with the main goal to raise awareness about the different environmental impacts of each phase from seafood production, from the extraction of raw materials to the end-of-life a as waste, and how much individual choices related to seafood can be more responsible.

Very significant was the active participation of the students who acquired knowledge about green economy concepts such as sustainable development, circular economy, life cycle thinking and eco-labelling through a presentation of the NEPTUNUS project supported by the delivery of educational tools containing explanations and practical exercises and integrated with moments of confrontation and discussion during which the students made many questions and suggestions.
